NetApp Storage Architect
STATUS: Full time – Permanent – Exempt – Salary
REPORTS TO: Director of Professional Services
LAST REVISION: July 27, 2011
ROLE: To provide expertise and support to all team members of the company and customers and to enable the company to be highly successful in selling and providing satisfaction to customers for storage solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be primary contact and resource for employees and customers related to storage solutions
- Maintain credible knowledge of competing technologies and solutions
- Maintain deep technical expertise around storage archiving, tiering, de-duplication, enterprise backup software, enterprise tape libraries, replication protocols, monitoring tools and virtualization
- Understand customers' business drivers and needs. Provide input on strategies to drive revenue for solutions and the overall practice
- Provide management oral and written reports on the customers' needs, problems, interests, market situation, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
- Conduct presentations online and in-person to existing and potential customers. Facilitate and perform demos for customers
- Conduct interviews with customers to collect detailed information and assist in the calculation of TCO and ROI for storage projects. Present findings to customers
- Conduct Disaster Recovery planning workshops with customers to identify their workloads in order to develop a DR solution that spans servers, storage, virtualization, etc. Work with other solution groups to close the gap with power, cooling, networking, security, etc. that complete the solution
- Assist with business development activities in partnership with sales and industry partners. Help to create business development activities, perform demand generation and provide follow-up to business development activities
- Understand customers' existing server and storage infrastructure, use assessment methodology to compare and contrast this infrastructure to define best practices, and make technical and financial recommendations to the customers
- Collaborate with sales staff to create and deliver customer seminars, workshops, polished proposals, and RFP's as necessary.
REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- NetApp FAS/V-Series
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or related field
- 10+ years of experience with enterprise storage
- 5+ years experience with NetApp storage
- Expert experience with NetApp management software
- Data Migration Best Practices
- Experience with FC storage networking
- Experience with backup
- Experience with Microsoft/UNIX/VM/SQL host configuration and how that applies to NetApp compatibility and NetApp SnapManager deployments
- Very strong communication skills
- Helps to affect change and expects success; anticipates possible outcomes and plans carefully to avoid the possibility of failure
- Possesses an inquisitive nature that is open to learning from all sources
